"Hope for the future,
Don't dwell in the past.
Live in the present,
And make today last.
Pray for tomorrow,
let your life live on.
Hope for the future,
because yesterday is gone."
For the past 20 years, the sisters of
Gamma Delta sigma have honored the memory of a lost sister, Brandy Lee Sudol.
During Brandy's time at Lycoming College, she developed an illness called
Hodgkin's disease. This disease is a form of cancer that attacks the lymphatic
system and diminishes the immune system, allowing the patient to become
susceptible to sickness. On February 23, 1990, Brandy Lee Sudol passed away
against a long battle with the illness. Throughout her time, she showed courage
and determination to get well, an image which will never leave our sisters
hearts.
To honor the memory of Brandy, we host an Annual Auction in her honor, generally
on parents weekend in September. We follow in Brandy's footsteps and come
together each year with enthusiasm, generosity, and remembrance. This auction
serves a dual purpose, simultaneously raising money for a nursing directed
scholarship saved in Brandy's name and keeping her memory as an outstanding
sister and student alive.
In the past, the Brandy Lee Sudol auction has been awarded Outstanding Program
of the Year, as well as numerous community service awards by Lycoming College.
This past fall, we raised over $1,500 and we are hoping to exceed that number this
year.
Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. Although our auction will
not be until September, 2012, if you would like to donate or receive more
information on this cause, please email the Auction Chairperson, Kelcie Werner,
at werkelc@lycoming.edu. Thank you!
